General Rules

  1. Wear hard hats, safety vests, gloves for the task and safety boots (6”) on all work sites. Other PPE as identified in the hazard assessment. (NO baseball caps under hard hats or reversible hard hats are allowed)
  2. Clothing shall be appropriate to duties being performed. Long pants and shirt with minimum 4” sleeve are minimum requirements. (No sweat pants, leggings, muscle shirts, tube tops. All shirts or T shirts must have no more than a 4” neck line. Must be professional looking at all times)
  3. Report to your supervisor all unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and near miss incidents.
  4. Report all injuries, damages, accidents and all vehicle traffic infractions immediately to Safety Manager or designate.
  5. Perform all work in accordance with safe work practices, safe job procedures and your supervisor’s direction.
  6. Maintain good housekeeping in your work area to keep work site free of hazards that could cause slips trips or falls.
  7. Operate all vehicles and equipment in accordance with site rules, highway regulations and by company policy.
  8. Cell phone use limited to breaks, does not include foremen or management.
  9. Hands free devices are to be used when driving company vehicles.


Prohibitions


The following are prohibited at all times on all company property and at all company job sites.
  1. Possession or consumption of alcohol or illegal drugs.
  2. Possession or consumption of barbiturates or edibles.
  3. Possession of firearms or items that could be mistaken for a firearm.
  4. Fighting, horseplay or practical jokes.
  5. Theft and/or vandalism.
  6. Damaging, disabling or interfering with safety, fire-fighting or first aid equipment, including employee safety equipment.
  7. Arriving for work or remaining at work when the ability to perform the job safely is impaired.
  8. Riding on equipment.
  9. Acts of harassment and/or violence.


PPE must be used as identified in the hazard assessment:

  • Eye Protection: Where a hazard to eyes is identified, workers will wear proper eye protection as identified in the hazard assessment (safety glasses, goggles, face shield).
  • Foot Protection: Where a foot hazard is identified, workers will wear proper foot protection as identified in the hazard assessment (CSA boots with 4” ankle support).
  • Head protection: Where a hazard to the head is identified, workers will wear proper head protection as identified in the hazard assessment (hard hat).
  • Hand Protection: Where a hazard to hand is identified, workers will wear proper gloves as identified in the hazard assessment.
  • Skin Protection: Where a hazard to the skin is identified, workers will wear proper skin protection as identified in the hazard assessment (coveralls etc.).
  • Hearing Protection: Workers will not be exposed to noise greater than 85dB. Where a noise hazard above 85dB is identified, and engineering controls are not practicable; workers will wear proper hearing protection as identified in the hazard assessment (Ear Muffs, Ear Plugs). Workers will also be provided with training on the hearing conservation program.
  • Respiratory Protection: Where a respiratory hazard is identified, workers will wear proper respiratory protection as identified in the hazard assessment (masks).
